Goals galore as Maldives rout Bhutan, enter semis
KATHMANDU/ Maldives stormed into the semis of the ongoing Eighth SAFF Championship brushing aside the Bhutan side by 8-2 in a game played at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Maldives became the second team in the Championship to book their place in the semis after Afghanistan sealed their place in the knockouts defeating Sri Lanka 3-1 in the game played earlier today at Halchowk Ground.
It was another dominating display by the Maldives side as they continued with their disdainful style of play, plundering eight goals against a weak Bhutan side.
They have now scored an astounding 18 goals from just two games.
Bhutan, however, took an early lead in the game with a cushion of 2 goals but failed to capitalise on their lead after they lost their first choice goal-keeper and had to play with only ten players.
Nepal will be playing against the defending champion India tomorrow, while both the teams will try to secure their place on the top two from Group 'A'. Nepal is currently leading the table courtesy of goal difference.
