CIAA chief vows to curb corruption

KASKI/ Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) , Lokman Singh Karki , has warned that those under scanner for corruption would not be allowed to walk scot-free.

He said that he cannot reveal all the things right away as many cases were under investigation but the result would be brought out within the next six months.

Addressing a programme on challenges for good governance and corruption control organised by a civil society group in Pokhara on Sunday, Karki remarked that corruption was flourishing in the nation. "Corruption is a disease like cancer. Such a dangerous disease should be wiped out," said Karki.

The CIAA chief said that he took charge of the anti-graft body against the backdrop of multiple challenges. "I have been given the responsibility under such challenging situation. But I must strive to curb the endemic corruption ," said Karki. "Else, I will be declared as a traitor."

He went on to say that corruption and anomalies have taken root in the nation and it requires strenuous effort to uproot the same.
